HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Henrico County fire crews were busy overnight responding to two fires within two minutes.

The first fire was reported about 3:35 a.m. at an apartment complex on Shellfish Court, between Mayland Dr. and West Broad Street.

“Crews had smoke showing from the attic on the front side of the building and fire from the rear of the building when they arrived,” Henrico Fire Lt. Jackson Baynard wrote. “The bulk of the fire spread was contained to the attic. As additional crews arrived they were able to take action to prevent additional damage to other apartments. The Red Cross is assisting occupants from two apartments that are displaced.”

No one was injured and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Two minutes after the Shellfish Cort fire call, a second fire was reported. This one at a home along the 1700 block of Logwood Circle, off Pump Rd.

“Crews initially encountered heavy fire from the garage, but were able to knockdown the bulk of fire,” Lt. Baynard wrote. “The fire did start outside the house, but the cause remains undetermined.”

No one was injured in the second fire.

Henrico fire crews were forced to adjust to make sure the county was covered as two crews were called to fight two fires at the same time.

“Companies from around the county were transferred to ensure coverage of the entire county. In addition, two additional Chief Officers marked in-service to support the on-duty supervisors,” Lt. Baynard wrote.
