FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – It’s been a year since parents asked the former principal at Petersburg’s Peabody Middle School to leave after allegations surfaced that she bullied children.

Now a group has posted an online petition pushing Dr. Yardley Farquharson to leave her new job at Fluvanna County Middle School, according to WCAV.

The petition, which had more than 160 supporters at last check, likened the middle school to a prison camp since Farquharson took over as principal .

In fact, some parents said their kids complained about being forced to sit in assigned seats in the cafeteria and having to use “whisper voices” while eating lunch. They also said there is absolutely no talking in the hallways – and claimed the principal yells.

In an email sent to parents, Farquharson said she realized her approach to set parameters and expectations might have been negatively perceived . As a result, she's hoping to partner with parents during a meet and greet Thursday at the school’s media center at 5:30 p.m.

At last check, WCAV was unable to reach Farquharson for comment.
