PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- An extended family of sorts is coming together to aid the family of a Nelson County teen missing since Saturday.

Word is spreading across the state about Alexis Murphy's disappearance thanks in part to Old Dominion Truck Leasing, where the teen's grandfather works.

Old Dominion Truck Leasing’s Buzz Ryder said the company emailed photos of Alexis to hundreds of drivers to make sure they keep an eye out for the 17-year-old.

"Just think, it could happen, if it happened to him, it could happen to one of our kids too," one driver said.

And the word has spread to others drivers from other companies as well.

"I went up to Springfield this morning and the guy, one of the dispatchers … mentioned it also to me. And he said look on the bulletin board, and there's her flyer right there,” said Richard Lyons, who drives for Reinhart Food Service.

Investigators said the 17-year-old left her Nelson County home to go shopping in Lynchburg on Saturday. Last night the teen’s car was discovered nearly an hour and a half away at a Charlottesville movie theater.

Two days after her disappearance, the FBI became actively involved in the search for Alexis. There has been no word or sign of the missing teen.
