FREE ADMISSION:  8th annual Filipino Festival this Friday and Saturday (Aug. 9 and 10)   Enjoy music and dance, artwork and exhibits and plenty of authentic Filipino foods.  At Our Lady of Lourdes at 8299 Woodman Road.  Details HERE.

FREE BOWLING: This Saturday, (August 10th) is National Bowling Day. Between 8 and 10 a.m. Enjoy a free game at Uptown Alley, including shoe rental. The alley is at 6101 Brad McNeer Parkway in Chesterfield.  Details HERE.

FREE ADMISSION:   The  30th Annual Carytown Watermelon Festival is this Sunday from 10am to 6pm.  All allong cary street from Thompson Street to Colonial Avenue.    Details HERE.

FREE ADMISSION:  Dragon Boat Festival.  Saturday, Aug. 10.  1-8 p.m.; Rocketts Landing, 5000 Old Osborne Turnpike, Richmond. Teams of 20 synchronized paddlers, one drummer and one steersperson race 500 meters up the river in 40-foot decorated canoes.  Authentic Chinese Entertainment from 2-5 p.m., ‘The Hit List’ concert at 8.p.m.  Details HERE.

FREE EXHIBIT:  Chesterfield County Public Library`s Central branch will host the national traveling exhibit, ‘Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,’ from Aug. 10-Sept. 18 . On Saturday, Aug. 10, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., free opening day events include re-enactors, library docent tours, a historical presentation about President Lincoln`s visit to Richmond, and a screening of Steven Spielberg`s ‘Lincoln’.  Details HERE.

FREE TOURS:  The Hanover Historical Society offers free ‘open house’ tours of the historic Hanover Courthouse on the second Tuesday of each month between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The next ‘open house’ is  Tuesday, August 13. No reservations are required.   DetailsHERE.

FREE ADMISSION:   The biggest free draw in town continues to be the Washington Redskins Training Camp here in Richmond .     Get more details HERE and HERE.

FREE ADMISSION:    Hanover Book Festival.  Sat. August 10 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at teh Liberty Christian School , 8004 Liberty Circle, Mechanicsville.  Over 50 Virginia authors, children’s activities and door prizes.  Details HERE.

FREE CONCERTS:   Ashland Coffee and Tea (100 N. Railroad Ave., Ashland)  This new music program for children  has performances on  August 8 and August 21st.  Details HERE.

FREE MEALS:  Anyone 18 and younger can take advantage of Richmond Parks and Rec’s Summer free meals program.  Breakfast is served weekdays 9 a.m -10 a.m and lunch from noon to 1 p.m..  at any of the 120 sites in the metro area that participate in the department’s program.  No registration required.  The program continues through August 30th. FREE CONCERT:  10th annual Summer Concert Series at Short Pump Town Center.   6 to 8 p.m. in the main plaza. The free music series continues weekly  Thursday evenings through August 22nd.  Details HERE.

FREE MOVIES:    Movieland on the Boulevard in Richmond has  free family-friendly movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m.  Doors open at 9 a.m..  Free admission is limited to theater capacity.  Details HERE.

FREE OUTDOOR MOVIES:  Richmond Parks and Rec will show free ‘Movies in the Park’ outdoors at  a different city park each Friday night through mid-August.   Details and a movie schedule: HERE.

$1.00 MOVIES:  Not free, but a great deal.  $1.00 admission to family-friendly movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings through Aug. 14 at Regal Cinemas. Details and the full schedule HERE.

FREE BOWLING: Enjoy a  free summer of bowling for children age 15 and under at AMF lanes.  Two free games per day through September 2nd.   You`ll need to preregister your child. Use the link HERE.

FREE FLAG CLEANING:  Get your American flag cleaned for free at any Puritan Cleaners any day of the year.  Details HERE.

FREE PROGRAM:  “Stories at the Museum”  at the Virginia Historical Society. All ages welcome,  every program will include a group reading of the selected book and a related craft activity. The one hour programs  will  take place the first and third Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m.  Details [HERE].

FREE ADMISSION:  Busch Gardens Williamsburg is once again offering free Preschool season admission passes.  The offer is good  for Virginia residents only.  Unlimited admission for children ages 3 to 5  to the park and to Water Country USA.  You must pre-register HERE.

FREE ADMISSION: Busch Gardens is offering single day free admission to men and women of the armed forces and their families any time this season.  Register HERE.

FREE ADMISSION:   Virginia Historical Society at 428 North Boulevard, Richmond always offers free admission.  Don’t miss the new exhibit, “The President`s Photographer: Fifty Years Inside the Oval Office” .  The exhibit features a variety of images of Presidents from Kennedy to Obama.  The museum is open 10 to 5 daily, Sundays 1 p.m.. to 5 p.m.   The exhibit is up through July 8th.  Details [HERE].

FREE JAZZ: The Virginia Museum has free admission to it’s Jazz Cafe’ program Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jazz Cafe and general VMFA Museum admission are always free. Full performance schedule [HERE]

FREE KIDS HAIRCUTS:   JC Penney is offering free haircuts to children in Kindergarten-to-6th grade every Sunday.

FREE FOR ACTIVE MILITARY: Free annual passes to America’s National Parks (value $80) are now  available to members of the military and their families free of charge.  The pass allows entrance  to more than 2,000 national parks, wildlife refuges and other public lands. The free pass will be made available for activated members of the National Guard and Reserves but not to military veterans or retirees. Military personnel can get the passes by showing their military I.D at any national park or wildlife refuge that charges an entrance fee.

FREE LESSON: Take  a free introductory lesson; ice skating or ice hockey at either SkateNation Plus in Short Pump or Richmond Ice Zone in Midlothian.

LOTS OF FREE STUFF: How about getting and giving stuff free? The Freecycle Network is made up of nearly five thousand groups and nearly 70-thousand members around the world who are getting and giving away stuff free. Membership is free It’s a great way to recycle, get rid of items you don’t want, and get things you do.

KIDS EAT FREE: All children eat  free at Quaker Steak & Lube Sundays through Thursdays,  4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The deal is good for children age 10 and under. The Richmond-area location is at 8000 W. Broad St.

FREE QDOBA: Children eat free at Qdoba on Sundays with the purchase of an adult entrée.

FREE KIDS MEALS: Kids eat free at McAlister’s Deli every Tuesday from  9 p.m. with the purchase of an adult entree.  There are two locations in the Richmond area, Gayton Crossing and Westchester Commons in Midlothian.

FREE STUFF: If you’re a Facebook member, a lot of restaurants are currently offering freebies, if you “like” them on Facebook. Search for your favorite and see if they have an offer. And while you’re on Facebook, stop by the  CBS 6 page and “like” us too.

FREE FIREHOUSE SUBS: A lot of restaurants offer birthday clubs that you have to sign up for, to get freebies on your special day. At Firehouse Subs, just show up on your birthday with I.D with your birth date, and get a free medium sub. There are several locations in the metro area.
