GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va (WTVR) — Uriah K. Harris was back in court today to face additional charges.  Judge Timothy Sanner officially charged Harris with felony domestic battery and a misdemeanor violation of a protective order.  Harris pleaded not guilty to both offenses.

Back in May, Harris was charged with two other felonies to include attempted murder and malicious bodily injury, according to his newly court appointed lawyer Duncan Reid.  At the same time Harris was charged with two misdemeanors for driving while his license was suspended.

Prosecutors said Harris beat up his ex-girlfriend as she walked through the parking lot of Goochland Middle School before class in December 2012.

Harris who is being held at the Henrico County Jail was originally represented by John Amos.  His new attorney would not say why Harris has new representation, only telling Reporter Jerrita Patterson he (Reid) was appointed to the case a few months ago.

Before leaving the Goochland County courtroom, Judge Tanner advised Harris to “stay in contact with your attorney and cooperate with him.”

A motion hearing is set for September 12.  And Harris’ two day trial is set to get underway on October 31.
