CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - A youth soccer coach was charged with aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties with a child following his arrest in Chesterfield County, according to police.

Joseph L. Crespo, 22, worked as a coach at XL Sports World (formerly RISE - Richmond Indoor Sports Experience) and was a junior varsity soccer coach at Clover Hill High School.

The mother of an 11-year-old boy, Crespo coached, found inappropriate text messages on a cell phone, police said. Investigators determined the messages were from Crespo and the child accused the coach of inappropriately touching him in a car on the way to see a soccer game.

Workers at XL Sports World said Crespo worked there for only a few months and that he no longer works there. Police also said Crespo is no longer employed by the school system.

Crespo is currently being held without bond, according to police.

This is a developing story.
