HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - The Hanover County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic accident that left one person dead.

It happened near the intersection of River Road and Hanover Courthouse Road Sunday around 5 p.m.

Officials said a Chevrolet SUV hit a tree when attempting to get off of River Road.

The driver, a 60-year-old man, was pronounced dead after he was taken to Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center.

No one else was in the vehicle.

The sheriff's office will release the victim's name once his family has been notified.
