RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — In 2011, Zoe Romano was the first female to run across the U.S. unsupported and in doing so raised $17,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. This year Romano, 26, decided to top that feat and committed to running the 2,000 mile route of the Tour de France within nine weeks. She isn’t running for the exercise, though.

Romano’s goal is to raise funds for the World Pediatric Project (WPP). WPP is a non-profit dedicated to providing better medical care for children in Central America and the Caribbean.

Today, Romano runs into Paris. She is two weeks out from the end of her journey and has raised $135,000 of her $150,000 goal so far.
