AUSTRALIA (WTVR) -- An Australian man is credited with saving a dog's life using CPR.

The reluctant hero was recently reunited with the pooch he saved.

Seven network reports Salty, a Jack Russell Terrier, was hit by a car in southeast Australia

Passerby Steve Hunter saw Salty lying on the road injured and not breathing. He jumped into action, performed CPR and chest compressions.

"His breath wasn't real flash, I've got to tell you,” said Hunter. “I got as close as I could without physically touching him ... he's not my type..."

Salty is now on the mend and doing well.
