HANOVER, Va. (WTVR)--Could a movie theater be coming to Hanover County?

The Hanover County Planning Commission voted unanimously Thursday night to approve a permit for the cinema

Under the plan the county's first movie theater would be built at the Hanover Village Shopping Center, just off Mechanicsville Turnpike near Brandy Creek Drive. The proposal is for a 12-screen cinema.

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors must approve the theater, and review the plan next month.

CBS 6 will let you know what decision is made.

There are 13 theaters located within 50 miles of the proposed project, including the IMAX theater at the Science Museum. The most recent theater project completed in the area was the Bow Tie Criterion Cinema at Movieland; an independent movie house.
