UPDATE: CVS pharmacies across the country will not sell the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine that features a controversial cover photo of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, CNN reported Wednesday.

(WTVR) – Rolling Stone magazine unveiled its August cover Tuesday. It features alleged Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in a self-portrait shot (selfie) used previously on the cover of the New York Times.

The magazine has certainly generated its share of controversy throughout the decades with features of iconic performers and diverse lifestyles–well this cover is no exception. The backlash instantly rippled through social media, and it’s only getting started.

Supporters, who call theyounger Tsarnaev“Jahar” are angry because they feel like the magazine convicted the alleged bomber, who recently plead not guilty to 30 federal counts related to the April 15 attacks.

The general public is unhappy with the teen’s portrayal, and think that the photograph gives Tsarnaev a rock-star appeal.

Contributing editor Janet Reitman wrote the story “Jahar’s World” after two months of interviews with people who know a different Tsarnaev than most of America. Her account is intended to “deliver a riveting and heartbreaking account of how a charming kid with a bright future became a monster.”
