Recent Va. Tech graduate killed in Goochland crash

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Investigators are looking into what caused a deadly accident that killed a recent Virginia Tech graduate in Goochland over the weekend.

Frederick Lewis Daniel Hoffman, 22, of Prospect, was killed in the single-vehicle crash along Jackson Shop Rd., near Sandy Hook Rd., according to Goochland County Sheriff’s investigator Scott Scaggs.

The driver of the vehicle was treated and released from the hospital. Scaggs said the accident happened about 1:35 a.m. Saturday.

Hoffman grew up in Cody, Wyoming, according to an obituary printed in the Cody Enterprise. Hoffman, known as Fritz, earned a bachelor’s of science degree in civil and environmental engineering from Virginia Tech in May, according to the obituary.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 20, at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation is suggested to the Virginia Tech chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
