(CNN) — Syfy executives are probably partying right now, given the frenzy they stirred on Twitter with “Sharknado.”

The made-for-TV monster movie has a thin premise about a tornado of sharks descending upon Los Angeles, but it was devoured by pretty much everyone during its premiere Thursday night – and we mean everyone, including Mia Farrow.

First, the actress teased the Internet with the idea that she and Philip Roth were having a “SharkNado” viewing party, but that turned out to be a prank.

Farrow was totally tuned in, though. “Omg omg OMG #sharknado,” she wrote. “Tomorrow I’ll pick up a chain saw.”

Chainsaws were crucial in the film, which stars Tara Reid and Ian Ziering as they battle flying sharks hungry for humans.

According to Ziering, the idea of being able to cut his way through a shark was a golden ticket he couldn’t pass up. “When I read this (script) I thought, chainsawing out of a shark, repelling, guns, sharks, tornadoes, I’ve gotta do this,” the former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star and present Chippendales dancer explained.

And America is so, so glad he did.

“Maybe all you really need to know about ‘Sharknado,'” says Time magazine’s James Poniewozik, “is that in the climax, Ziering’s character faces a flying shark, gets swallowed whole, then chainsaws his way out of its belly, freeing a character who was just eaten by the same shark while falling from a helicopter.”

Twitter ate it up:

Damon Lindelof

“I know it’s only been 12 hours, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to talk about anything non-Sharknado-related again.”

Wil Wheaton

“Two commercials in, and #SharkNado is awesome. I wonder if I can get a cameo in the inevitable sequel.”

Kurt Loder

“As usual, the beach youths all deserve to die. #rooting for the sharks #Sharknado”

Patton Oswalt

“Just got a call from the 2nd A.D. on the movie I’m filming. Call time canceled tomorrow. ALL movies canceled. It’s done. #SharkNado”

B.J. Novak

“I’m afraid that now when we have a real sharknado everyone’s going to treat it like a joke.”

Alan Sepinwall

“I could write a thousand tweets and never have enough words to sum up the brilliance of what just happened there. #SHARKNADO.”
