RICHMOND, Va (WTVR) - The Richmond Public School Board has plans to discuss the idea of school uniforms at Monday night's board meeting.

Board Chairman, Jeffrey Bourne said it's a beginning conversation, with nothing set in stone.

"I think it just changes the culture," he said. "I think its shown to have some positive impact on behavior problems."

Mother of three, Kim Cobbs, told CBS 6 News' Chelsea Rarrick she thinks uniforms would be positive for the schools in and out of the classroom.

"When you go for job interviews you know how to dress and conduct yourself. You only have one time to make a first impression," said Cobbs.

But others have mixed feelings.

"Having to afford getting the uniforms and having enough for each child to have for the whole week, that could be difficult," said Tasha Johnson, a parent at Richmond Public Schools.

Bourne said the board plans to discuss different options and have community input.

"We're trying to find out what different districts around the country have, around the state perhaps," he said.
