RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) –  Where will Richmond’s new minor league baseball stadium be built? It is a multimillion dollar question that has yet to be answered.

City insiders, like commentator Paul Goldman, have indicated Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones wants to build a new stadium in the city’s Shockoe Bottom neighborhood. [Click here to read Goldman’s column]

During Monday’s Redskins Training Camp grand opening, CBS 6 caught up with Mayor Jones and asked about his yet-to-be announced stadium plan and whether he was worried the pubic would not support a new stadium in the old Richmond neighborhood.

"I'm not sure that people who want to see baseball will not come where it is, and particularly if it is a great venue, particularly if it is a venue that has transformed a neighborhood that has many, many other things going on, many other things to do, a safe place," the mayor said. "I'm not sure that people won't come and I'm not sure that it won't attract large numbers of new people who are not going to the Boulevard."

The mayor would not discuss specifics of his plan nor would he say when the plan would be announced. He said the plan is "still cooking."
