TOWNVILLE, SC (WHNS) – A South Carolina family honored their son, who is joining the Army, with a unique display in their front yard. The Kellett Family’s son, Samuel, will report to basic training on Monday.

Samuel Kellett’s proud father, Dan, mowed the words “WE LOVE U SAM” and “GO ARMY” into his lawn in Townville. Dan Kellett told FOX Carolina he wanted to share his son’s determination to serve his country with the entire community.

“People can’t believe I did this to the yard. You know, now, this is my joy now. My pride now,” Dan Kellett said.

Samuel Kellett said he was shocked because his father loves his lawn. He joked, “He loves his yard almost as much as he loves me!”

Samuel Kellett will spend 66 days in basic training at Fort Jackson.
