Alexandria mother charged in child’s death

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WTVR) — A mother is behind bars after her baby died in a hot car.

Police say Zoraida Hernandez is charged with felony child neglect after leaving her 8-month-old baby inside a vehicle while she went into work Friday. Investigators say it appears Hernandez forgot to drop off her child at daycare that day before going to work.

Although Hernandez has an Alexandria address, Arlington Police are continuing this investigation.

The high temperature Friday reached 90 degrees.
