LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Virginia State Police need help locating a wanted Cumberland County man following a fatal hit-and-run crash on Saturday.

State Police were called to Zachary Taylor Highway and Days Bridge Road just before 9:30 p.m. after the driver of a 2003 GMC Savana 3500 Van struck the rear of a 1988 Kawaskai 1000 motorcycle.

Both the driver of the motorcycle, Oneal F. Newman, 50, and his female passenger, Joyce A. Herriot, 53, were ejected from the motorcycle and then struck as the driver fled the scene.   Newman and Herriot, both of Spotsylvania, Virginia, died at the scene.

The suspect driver continued traveling southbound on Zachary Taylor Highway, Route 522, before the van broke down -- and the driver fled on foot into a heavily wooded area.

State Police along with the Louisa County Sheriff's Office conducted a search of the area for the suspect.

After investigation, State Police are looking for 30-year-old Kenneth G. Wadford of Cumberland County. Wadford was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash.

"He is considered dangerous because he is on the run.  State Police ask that if anyone know the whereabouts of Kenneth Wadford, who is from Cumberland County, to contact State Police."

Wadford is described as a white male with dark hair, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white tanktop, red shorts, and flipflops.

Wadford is wanted for two felony counts of hit and run and is considered dangerous.

"We needs to turn himself in," said Tredy Robinson, who lives a couple hundred yards away from where the accident happened.

Robinson saw the scene Saturday night, and allowed vehicles to make U-turns in her driveway since the road was shut down.

Robinson said the intersection of Rt. 522 & Days Bridge Road has become increasingly dangerous over the past few years due to an increase in traffic.

Robinson said she will be praying for the victim's families.

Virginia State Police asks anyone with information to call 804-553-3445.
