RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--Want to see more splashes of paint on city walls? Then drop some cash in the can to help Art Whino, a DC-based art gallery, who last year curated the 23 vivid murals that now brighten the city.

Venture Richmond and City of Richmond were also involved in the 2012 project and were very supportive in hosting what was known as the G40 Art Summit. Last year artists were chosen in an open submission process.

This year, Art Whino hopes to continue last year’s success with another edition of murals, featuring eight to twelve of the top muralists from around the world.

The project hopes to have twenty murals  painted throughout the city, bringing the number of murals to 43 when completed. Art Whino has said the goal of the Richmond Mural Project is to be a yearly event that will create over 100 murals by world renown talent in the first five years alone.

The hope is to establish Richmond as "a landmark destination for internationally recognized murals," and create exposure for the city, "establishing it as a premier art destination."

They have secured funding to bring five artists but said "with your help we will be able to increase the line up to 10 muralists and if we surpass our goal we will be able to increase the number of muralists beyond our initial goal of 10."

So far they have raised over $2,000. Click here for information or to donate.
