BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — The home of the National D-Day Memorial may not have a fireworks celebration this year.

Bedford leaders have decided they cannot  afford to pay for the annual Fourth of July celebrations because of budget cuts.

As a result, the event was canceled, upsetting many people in the small community.

A private group, the Bedford Moose Lodge, has offered to pick up the $14,000 tab, but the event still may not happen.

That’s because the organization still has to find a fireworks vendor on short notice.
