Police ID college students killed in West End crash

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) — Police released the names of two 22-year-old college students killed in a high-speed crash early Saturday morning on Westham Parkway just north of the Pinetree Road intersection in Henrico’s West End.

Police said 22-year-old Warren G. Kraft of Cold Spring Harbor, New York, and 22-ueat-old Michael J. Marks of Ellicott City, Maryland, were ejected from a 2014 Mazda sedan when their car ran off the road and hit a tree.

Both men died at the scene. Investigators said the car was traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.

Brian Eckert, University of Richmond public relations representative confirmed to CBS 6 that Kraft was a student at the college. Eckert said Kraft was taking summer classes and was expected to graduate in August. He also said Kraft had a brother at the university.

Marks was a student at McDaniel College in Maryland, according to a spokesperson for the school.

A third person in the car was able to get help to the scene following the crash. ┬áPolice said the third occupant’s injuries were serious, but not thought to be life threatening.
