BOWLING GREEN, Va. (WTVR) – Strong storms that rolled through Central Virginia Thursday afternoon caused a slew of downed trees and numerous power outages.

Bowling Green was particularly hit hard. In fact, the town manager told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil that it appears a micro burst may have hit Main Street.

Covil reported that many of trees along the that stretch in the small town had been knocked down or uprooted. In fact, at least half of the town was without power.

First responders warned drivers in the area to use extreme caution because of the downed power lines. Covil also said some trees could still fall since they may have been  damaged from the storm's strong winds and heavy rains.
