SUFFOLK, Va. (WTVR)- Police arrested a Suffolk man accused of attacking his neighbor over grass clippings, according to a report on WTKR.com.

Gerald Tew, 63, regularly cuts his neighbors’ lawns, he said. But recently his next door neighbor, whose lawn he did not cut, got in his face over grass clippings the lawn mower left behind.

“I had my back turned to him. And all of a sudden out of the blue, here comes this man six inches from my face, threatening me,” Tew said. “My next door neighbor approached me and asked if I couldn’t sweep the roadway off, not to cut the grass at all. I told him I wasn’t going to sweep the grass.”

Tew said that’s when his neighbor hit him.

“My shirt was covered in blood. It was like a bomb just fell out of the sky and boom on top of your head. It wasn’t a good feeling, I can tell you that,” Tew said.

Police arrived and charged John Burton, 49, in the attack. Burton declined WTKR’s interview request. Tew was treated at the hospital.
