WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WTVR) -- Richard White may be a Petersburg native, but he is as Oklahoman today as Sooner football.

White's home in Moore, OK was destroyed two weeks ago. Despite the tragedy he decided to continue his planned trip to see his dad in Petersburg this week.

He did not however expect another round of twisters to strike - putting his family and his temporary place of residence in jeopardy.

"Last night was a little PTSD - here we go again - I'm here in Virginia my wife and family is still back home in Oklahoma," White said.

White tells CBS 6 reporter Joe St. George he received word his family in Moore is okay.

White was blessed to deliver that news as word came nine Oklahomans died as a result of the May 31st storm.

In Virginia with White is his granddaughter Kyerra and his son Christopher.

Kyerra was in a Moore, Oklahoma school when the first round of twisters hit her town. She was in Virginia frantically texting her friends Friday night.

"I was like you have to keep covered I cannot lose you I have known you for too long," Kyerra said.

The White family plans on returning to Oklahoma Sunday morning - vowing to rebuild better than before - not thinking for one moment of leaving Oklahoma.

"It's Oklahoma strong, we are heavy weight champions put us on the floor we'll get back up and throw another punch," White said.
