MILWAUKEE (WITI) — ESPN is reporting that up to 20 Major League Baseball players could be suspended due to their connection with Biogenesis clinic.

The accused players could face a 100-game suspension after their names appeared on documents obtained from the Biogenesis clinic in February.

The ESPN article states: “Major League Baseball will seek to suspend about 20 players connected to the Miami-area clinic at the heart of an ongoing performance-enhancing drug scandal, including Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, possibly within the next few weeks, “Outside the Lines” has learned. If the suspensions are upheld, the performance-enhancing drug scandal would be the largest in American sports history.

Tony Bosch, founder of the now-shuttered Biogenesis of America, reached an agreement this week to cooperate with MLB’s investigation, two sources told “Outside the Lines,” giving MLB the ammunition officials believe they need to suspend the players.”

The Biogenesis clinic has been closed, after it was accused of distributing performance-enhancing drugs to a rash of baseball players. The clinic was later sued by MLB.

The 14-page complaint names Biogenesis, its predecessor and six individuals — among them Bosch, others at the company, someone who worked at a sports agency, a former University of Miami baseball player and a “self-proclaimed chemist” who supplied substances.

The accused, according to Major League Baseball, solicited players, supplied them with drugs and offered dosage recommendations in order not to test positive for banned substances under the league’s program.
