HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death was found competent to stand trial. Brian Mallory is charged with the 2012 murder of Sarajane Hakopian. The trial is scheduled to begin on Sept. 23.
In Mallory’s initial psychological exam, a doctor determined he was competent to stand trial. Later, information that Mallory possibly suffered from brain damage caused the doctor to ask for more tests.
Mallory is charged with first degree murder.
