Richmond police investigate Manchester homicide

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — The Richmond Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened early Sunday morning at the 00-hundred block of W. 14th St. between Hull St. and Bainbridge St.

According to Richmond police, officers were dispatched around 5:20 a.m. after a caller reported that someone had been shot.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Roosevelt Byrd. He was found shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

There are no suspect descriptions at this time, but detectives are investigating a report of a dark-colored full-size SUV leaving the scene of the shooting, heading towards Hull St.

Additionally, detectives said they do not think this was a random shooting.
