RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - The uncle of the 27-year-old Richmond woman accused of putting her newborn baby in the dumpster said he had no idea his niece was pregnant.

The uncle, who identified himself to CBS 6 only as Mr. Robinson, said ShaVaughn Robinson lives in his home with her four-year-old son. He said his niece loves her son and works two jobs to support him. He added the accusations against his niece are hard to believe.

ShaVaughn Robinson, of the 1600 block of Wentbridge Road, is charged with felony concealment of a body, according to Richmond Police. Additional charges are possible as detectives are meeting with the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

Police said her baby's body was found Tuesday night around 8 p.m. in a dumpster located in an alley in the 1800 block of Monument Avenue.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death a homicide, according to police. Detectives said this case remains active.
