New Kent church collects donations for tornado victims

New Kent County (WTVR) – A New Kent Church wants your extra plastic containers, socks, even toothpaste. It’s collecting supplies to send to the tornado victims in Oklahoma.

Hopewell Baptist Church is collecting donations at the Kroger on Route 301 in Atlee until 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

They will also be collecting supplies at Sunday’s Flying Squirrel’s game at the Diamond. They want to make sure they people who lost everything in the storm have what they need as they rebuild.

“II would hope someone would collect supplies for me if I lost everything I had,” says Sarah Moore-Lifi, who is coordinating the donation drive.

So far, more than two truckloads of supplies have been collected.

Here is a list of supplies that are needed:

  • Canned Food
  • Band-Aids, Q-Tips, Thermometers
  • Dental Floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste,
  • Gatorade and Bottled Water
  • Baby Blankets
  • SHOES- Women’s, Men’s and Children’s ALL Sizes
  • Medical Ointments and Creams
  • Feminine Hygiene Products (tampons, pads)
  • Razors
  • Travel Hand Sanitizer
  • Anti-Bacterial Wipes (Lysol, Wet ones)
  • EMPTY Plastic Containers
  • Snack Size Chips
  • Underwear and Socks ALL SIZES
  • Ziploc Bags
  • Senior Supplies (Hearing Aid Batteries, denture cream Depends, Etc.)
  • Glasses (Reading and Prescription)
  • Shampoo and Soap
  • Work Gloves
  • Tarps
