RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Richmonders were a part of the millions of people across the world who spent the day protesting seed company Monsanto and genetically modified foods.

Protestors carried signs with slogans like "I am not a science experiment" and say they have the right to know if they're eating something that has been genetically altered.

Organizers say most corn, soybean and cotton crops in the US have been genetically modified to add nutrition or to increase the supply.

In a statement given to the USA Today, the Monsanto Corporation said their products help farmers produce more from their land using fewer resources.
