City Dance Theatre hits Grace Street Theater

RICHMOND, VA. (WTVR): Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities presents City Dance Theatre Company, Award-Winning Youth Dance Company Annual Concert, “Lest we Forget”, a fundraiser Saturday, May 25, 7 pm at the Grace Street Theater.

Director for 33 years Annette Holt says the company has had a lot of professional dancers that have gone on to work with prestigious companies like the Richmond Ballet among others. And Long time Choreographer Rodney Williams says Saturday’s Dance program is about Black History and serves as a tribute to Mahalia Jackson, Whitney Houston, Donnie Hathaway and Alvin Ailey. Music and dances from different genres will be featured.

The Dance Theatre recently won several award at the Regional Competition, now the proceeds from Saturday’s performance will support the company’s trip to Chicago for another competition. Twenty one young dancers ranging in age from 9-16 will perform in Saturday’s Concert. Tickets are $20 at the door, www.RichmondGov.com/parks or 804-646-3673.
