UPDATE: South Richmond fatal shooting ruled a homicide

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR)--Police have upgraded an investigation of a fatal shooting in South Richmond to a homicide.

An ambulance was called to the 1800 block of Keswick Avenue around 4:30 p.m., Dionne Waugh, with Richmond Police Department, told CBS 6.

When the Richmond Ambulance Authority arrived, police were notified.

A male in his 20s was found dead of a gunshot wound. The person who found the body said that a window was broken at the home, near where the body was lying.

Police have identified the deceased as Rameik A. Nixon, 28, of the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard. They say the cause of death was an apparent gunshot wound.

Police told CBS 6 that the man appeared to have been dead for awhile.

The residence is a small boarding house.
