Communities in the nation’s mid-section have been ravaged by tornadoes and severe weather. On Monday, a two-mile wide tornado touched down in a suburban area outside Oklahoma City.

Many compared Monday’s storm with one that caused widespread devastation and more than 100 deaths, back in May 1999. Damages from that storm caused more than a billion dollars worth of damages. Early estimates anticipate that the damages from this storm will cost three times more.

The day before that tornado hit, on Sunday in Shawnee, Okla., a tornado also leveled homes and left three dead.

In response to numerous viewer questions about how to help, we have prepared the below stories. Each one is a link to a separate story on how to help; animals, people and first responders.
