RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - CBS 6 political analyst Dr. Bob Holsworth discussed Republican Lt. Governor candidate E.W. Jackson's win at the Virginia Republican Convention.

Holsworth said E.W. Jackson's nomination could create a problem for Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli.

"No one really quite knows how this is going to work out because Rev. Jackson has, on a number of times made a number of very controversial comments that will be aired out fully during this campaign about gays. He said, in terms of race in the black community, that Planned Parenthood has caused more problems for the black community and been more lethal to the African-American community than Ku Klux Klan," Holsworth said.

Holsworth said he thinks Virginia Republicans hope Jackson's "no excuses" political style will mobilize the Tea Party. He added that nominating an African-American candidate could help cut into the Democrats' voter base.

"This is going to be the most fascinating race for Lt. Governor we've ever seen," Holsworth said. Holsworth said whoever wins the race for Lt. Governor will have a tie-breaking vote in the evenly-divided State Senate.
