WASHINGTON (WTVR) -- The National Park Service is offering a stunning and unique view of the nation's capitol.

The park service has shared video from a worker's helmet-mounted camera helmet as restoration of the Washington Monument continues.

The monument was damaged in August of 2011 when a 5.8-magnitude earthquake rocked much of the East Coast. The quake, which originated near Mineral, Virginia also caused millions in property damage in Louisa County.

Repair costs for the monument are estimated at about $15 million.

The work is expected to be completed sometime next year.
