DENVER, Colo. (WTVR) - Many people in their 80's are retired and taking it easy, but not Dr. Bruce Heilman of Richmond. Not only is the World War II veteran the Chancellor of the University of Richmond, but he is an avid motorcycle rider too.

He is currently on a cross-country trip in celebration of his 87th birthday. He is also meeting fellow World War II veterans along the way.

One stop on his 6,000 mile, 18-state journey was Denver, where our sister station caught up with him.

"The one thing I can say, and I'm not embarrassed to say it, we're all proud of our service in the military to our country, and we don't give a hang what anybody else thinks about it, it's the best place ever," Dr. Heilman said.

Heilman said next year he planned to ride to Alaska.
