(WTVR) — The beloved actress who portrayed the iconic Mrs. Chancellor on the long-running CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” died on Wednesday.

“Mom passed this morning. She was in peace and without fear. U all have been incredible in your love,” Bernsen said on Twitter. “In her name share it 2 day with others.”
Bernsen also posted a message to fans on his Facebook page.He said that his mother died peacefully in her sleep with her daughter by her side.
“I was going to visit this afternoon, thought I had time. Reminder to self – time is a precious thing. I too am at peace however,” he wrote. “I said my goodbyes several times over during the last few weeks. I’ll go one last time now for a gentle kiss a final farewell for this lifetime.”
Bernsen also said he will dedicate the rest of his life to honor his mother’s purpose to spread honesty, equality, humility, empathy and love.
The actor also thanked fans for their devotion and prayers over the difficult journey.
“So many of you have said your prayers for her and right now, today, I can say the best way to honor her is to inhabit your lives with those things she stood for,” Bernsen wrote.
Cooper, the actress who played Katherine Chancellor on television since the early 1970s, had been hospitalized in Los Angeles since mid-April, CBS LosAngeles reported.
However, she was briefly released from the hospital for a few days and got to go back home.
Sadly, Cooper was taken back to the hospital on May 1 and Bernsen took to his Facebook pageasking for an “abundance of prayers.”
“Not sure what to pray for at this point or what we even want for her. I know in my heart there is more for her to do in this world, but I also know there is a season for all things. I want more than anything comfort for her. I want her to have peace,” he wrote.
According to her online bio,Cooper was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2004. The bio indicates Cooper has three children and eight grandchildren.
