Junior organizes W82TEXT rally at Richmond’s Community High

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – Students across Central Virginia are being urged to take the W82TEXT pledge.

CBS 6 Beat the Traffic’s Raymond Hawkes and Kristen Luehrs talked to students at Richmond's Community High Tuesday about the dangers of texting while driving.

W82TEXTencourages drivers to put down their cell phones while the are behind the wheel.

Junior Armani Joyner organized the campaign at her school to encourage fellow students to drive safely.

"If you can save one person's life, because we actually know people who have actually died...," said Joyner. "We thought it was important to do something like this to prevent something tragic like that."
