DENVER (KDVR) - A security guard for the Denver Public Schools system is on leave, accused of using “excessive force” against a six-year-old student, according to a statement from the school district.

The child's father said his son was slapped after he spit on the officer who was trying to restrain the child.

"My son was having behavioral issues, he was acting out, he was trying to leave the classroom," father Tony Bozman said. "He's just a good kid. You know yeah, there's troubles but what six-year-old kid doesn't?"

Bozman said when he picked up his son at school that day, he noticed the child's face was red. The school did not mention the slap to Bozman.

"I`m angry because they school basically felt that they didn`t have a responsibility to tell me or my wife that our son had been assaulted," he said.
