(CNN) — “Two and a Half Men” might be more like “Two Men and a guest star” when it returns to CBS in the fall.

The network has renewed the comedy for another season with both Jon Cryer and Ashton Kutcher signed on to return.

But longtime series star Angus T. Jones, who’s played Jake Harper since 2003, isn’t expected to return full-time.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the 19-year-old actor who famously criticized the show last year is in talks with Warner Bros. about a potential recurring role rather than a regular slot.

Last November, Jones called “Two and a Half Men” “filth” in a YouTube clip that shows him discussing the ways the show conflicts with his Christian faith.

“I’m on ‘Two and a Half Men,’ and I don’t want to be on it,” Jones told viewers. “Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth.”

Jones apologized for his remarks, and EW notes that CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said in January that the series had moved on from his controversial statements.

“The kid’s 19,” Tassler said. “I’ve got a 24-year-old. Between the ages of 19 and 24 there’s been plenty of things my kid has come out and said that I wish he hadn’t, but the bottom line is cooler heads prevailed. [Jones has] been a beloved member of that cast for years and years and he issued a public apology. At the end of the day, they want him back and he wants to come back and that’s it.”
