(WTVR) – There’s some good news for fans of the long-running CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless.”

One of the show’s iconic stars, Jeanne Cooper, has been released from the hospital.

Cooper’s son, actor Corbin Bernsen, shared the good news via Twitter on Saturday. He also snapped a photo of his wheelchair-bound mom leaving the hospital.

Bernsen tweeted earlier this month that his mother’s breathing tube had been removed and that prayers from around the world were helping her heal.

Cooper, 84, had been hospitalized for several weeks week in Los Angeles. CBS LosAngeles reported the actress, who has played Katherine Chancellor on television since the early 1970s, was in critical condition.

However, after Bernsen tweeted he needed prayers for his mom on April 12, he said he was “blown away” by the compassion he received via Twitter.

According to her online bio,Cooper was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 2004. The bio indicates Cooper has three children and eight grandchildren.
