RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- The victim of last weekend's apparent murder-suicide in Richmond was remembered at a vigil Sunday evening.

The storyof a murder-suicide during a standoff with police that left two officers shot shocked the South Richmond community.

The female victim, 33-year-old Christina Squire, is believed by police to have been killed by her live in boyfriend.

For the first time since her death last weekend the family is speaking publicly.

"You have to keep going and that is what our family is trying to do," Stacey Squire, Christina's sister, told a crowd of more than 100 at Richmond Outreach Center Church Sunday.

Family and friends gathered for a prayer vigil and to announce a new foundation in Christina's honor.

The Christina's Love Foundation has been established to help fight what the family believes killed her sister: domestic abuse.

"The only way we are going to stop this cycle is if we do something about," Stacey Squire said.

The family tells CBS 6 the foundation will help them grieve and help them deal with the fact many of the questions surrounding Christina's death may never be answered -- a fact Richmond police confirmed to us this week.

"We are saddened that we weren't able to provide better closure for family members," Captain Harvey Powers of the Richmond Police said.
