NEWNAN, Ga. (WTVR) -- A deadly house fire outside of Atlanta has killed a mother and her four daughters.

The fire started overnight Friday at a home in Newnan, which is about 30-miles southwest of Atlanta.

Fire crews doused the flames, but were too late to save 28-year-old Lalonna McCrary and four of her daughters, 5-years-old and younger.

The victims were identified as Alonna McCrary, 28; Eriel McCrary, 5; Messiaay McCrary, 3; Nikiay McCrary, 2; and McKenzie Flourence, 1.

One 11-year-old daughter did manage to escape the fire and survived with the help of a passerby.

Shannon Arnold, McCrary's aunt and the children's great aunt, remembered the victim as a good mother.

“Oh my gosh, she was fun. She always took care of her girls,” McCrary told WSB. “She always made sure that the other sisters was together. She just had so much love for all the girls. They just about every weekend or every other weekend, they was together.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
