CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Chesterfield fire crews have marked a two-alarm fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon at a recycling plant under control.

The fire started at Aleris International, a metal recycling plant, in the 1700 block of Reymet Road.

Lt. Jason Elmore said the fire was in the furnaces in the towers between the fourth and fifth floors at the facility.

Elmore said fire crews were staged away from the building that contains the furnace in case the five-story furnace tower was damaged as a result of the fire.

Crews worked with Aleris officials to isolate the incident and said that there was not any danger of an explosion or of the fire spreading.

The incident was marked under control at 9:23 p.m, but one fire and EMS crew will stay throughout the night to help plant personnel monitoring of the situation.
