West End student helping Texas explosion victims

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – Shane Powers, a student at Tucker High School in Henrico’s West End, has organized a supply and book drive for schools affected by the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas.

Three of the four schools in West were significantly damaged by the blast, according to Henrico County Schools spokesman Andy Jenks.

Everyone is encouraged to drop off school supplies and gently used or new books to the front office at Tucker High School located at 2910 N. Parham Road Henrico, 23294.

The drive started today and runs through Friday April 26. Items can be dropped off between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
