RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — It turns out that talk-to-text feature on your cell phone may not be much safer than letting your fingers do the work.
A study released Tuesday by the Texas A-&-M Transportation Institute said driver response times are nearly two times slower than when they aren’t texting — whether using a hands-free or traditional texting method.
Researchers said for most tasks, drivers texted manually slightly faster than using hands-free apps.
Still, the study shows most drivers felt safest using talk to text apps.
