RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) -- With more and more children and teens playing competitive sports year round, more young athletes are suffering overuse injuries.

New research shows those most at risk specialize intensively in one sport, which can put them more at risk.

Injuries like stress fractures are more common in children and teenagers because their bodies are still growing.

Doctors encourage young athletes to take at least one day off from training each week, and at least a month off between seasons.
