BOSTON (WTVR) --  Just days after the deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon, the city sang in unison in front of the town's beloved Boston Bruins.

Before the game against the Buffalo Sabres, fans in attendance sang the National Anthem together. This came after a moment of silence was observed for the three people killed and the many more injured in the bombing.

The NHL game between the Boston Bruins and Buffalo Sabres was the first major sporting events since the Monday's bombing.

A jersey was also placed on the Bobby Orr statue outside of the TD Bank Garden. The jersey had the number eight on the back with the name Martin Richard to honor the 8-year-old boy who was one of those killed.

The Bruins would go on to lose the game in an overtime shoot out to the visiting Sabres. Boston fans still had plenty to cheer about. Their team clinched a playoff spot that night despite the loss.
