HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -- Some students at a Henrico high school got a crash course in cyber security Wednesday.

FBI agents came in to teach students at Deep Run High School about the importance of keeping their identities and personal information secure online.

Special Agent David Crisafi said in this age of social networking, cyber smarts are crucial for today's kids.

"We want to prevent kids from going into their rooms 10 hours a day, messing around with computers, possibly developing relationships online with individuals that may be bad mentors -- and may get them involved with things that are of an illegal nature online," said Crisafi.

The forum is apart of a partnership that includes Virginia Tech, the University of Virginia, state police and the Department of Homeland Security.

The program aims to educate students on current trends in cyber security.
