RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) — All lanes have been reopened on Interstate 95 at Bells Road, near mile marker 69. They were previously closed around 2:30 Saturday morning due to a multi-vehicle crash.

State Police reported to the scene after a Dodge Neon rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra. As a result, the Elantra hit the jersey wall before striking a Mercedes and Toyota Camry.

Officials believe alcohol is a factor of this crash.

Virginia State Police report that six people were injured. Three people suffered serious non-life threatening injuries, while the other three suffered minor injuries.

24-year-old Darrell Payne, Jr., the driver of the Dodge Neon, was charged with a D.U.I.

Another accident occurred just a couple of miles down the road.

State Police investigated a crash around 3:20 a.m. that happened on the northbound side of Interstate 95 at mile marker 71.

Authorities say a Dodge Stratus hit a Richmond Police patrol vehicle that stopped to assist the crash in the southbound lane.

The police sergeant in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to VCU Medical Center.

Ronald J. Carroll, Jr., 45, was arrested and charged with a DUI.  He did not suffer any injuries.
